LONDON— Tony Troy, managing director of Principal Hotels, has been promoted to regional managing director UK and Ireland of Nomura’s Le Meridien and Principal chains. The move has left John Bamsey, regional managing director of Le Meridien UK and Ireland, without a job. Bamsey joined Le Meridien in October 1999, when it was owned by the Forte Hotel Group. He was recently quoted as saying,”Principal and Le Meridien will be merged together under one management organization and, as a result, one of was going to be unlucky.” Troy will now oversee the operations of both chains in the UK and Ireland.
