SAN ANTONIO Las Vegas-based developer, Robert Bigelow, is building a $12.6 million, 360-room Budget Suites of America Hotel here, which is expected to break ground later this month on the 7800 block of Fredericksburg Road. The project is slated to open this fall.

The planned hotel is one of three in the San Antonio area for which the firm has prepared architectural drawings, project coordinator Kevin Dingman said. However, no commitments have been made to build anything other than the Fredericksburg site, he added.

Bigelow, a multibillionaire who made his fortune building apartment complexes and hotels, is also widely known for his interest in matters extraterrestrial. He has said publicly that hes determined to launch the first cruise ship to tour to the dark side of the moon and is said to have invested significant resources into developing this project.
