BERLIN—Hilton Worldwide has signed an agreement to open its largest Hampton by Hilton hotel to date, in central Berlin. The 344-guestroom Hampton by Hilton Berlin Alexanderplatz is slated to open in early 2018.

The hotel is being developed under a franchise agreement with Interstar Hotel GmbH, which owns and operates a number of hotels across Germany.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, SVP, development, Europe & Africa, Hilton Worldwide, said, “We remain focused on expanding our economy and midmarket portfolio in key gateway cities across Europe, and 2014 saw Hilton Worldwide introduce substantial Hampton by Hilton properties in destinations including London, Warsaw and Istanbul, to name a few. This latest hotel will add substantially to our economy presence in central Berlin—a city which attracted 28.7 million overnight stays in 2014 alone, thanks to its fundamental appeal as a business and leisure destination.”

The new hotel continues Hampton by Hilton’s growth in key urban locations across Europe, and joins more than 90 hotels trading or under development in the region. Hampton by Hilton Berlin Alexanderplatz is situated less than 1,315 feet from Alexanderplatz Square, in the heart of Berlin and the German capital’s prime business district, and has access to the Berlin’s transport network, with a tram station directly in front of the hotel and S-Bahn and underground stations both within walking distance.

Phil Cordell, global head, focused service and Hampton brand management, Hilton Worldwide, said, “The signing of our largest-ever Hampton by Hilton hotel in Berlin, which closely follows our recent milestone of reaching 2,000 hotels trading worldwide, is a true testament to its broad appeal internationally. Hampton by Hilton’s friendly service and great value have been fundamental to its growth, and its modern aesthetic appeals to today’s travelers, who are keen to visit new destinations and stay with a trusted global brand.”

Wolfgang Gallas, Interstar Hotel GmbH, said, “Alexanderplatz is one of the most popular areas of Berlin, and has witnessed considerable change in recent history. We’re looking forward to contributing to the next stage in the area’s transformation, and to introducing Hampton by Hilton Berlin Alexanderplatz—our first hotel in partnership with Hilton Worldwide.”

Hampton by Hilton Berlin Alexanderplatz joins three Hilton Worldwide properties currently trading in Berlin: Waldorf Astoria Berlin, Hilton Berlin and Hampton by Hilton Berlin City West.
