NEW YORK— La Quinta Corp. Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer Alan Tallis said he is “beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel [for the industry]” regarding an uptick in travel. Meeting with HOTEL BUSINESS® at the New York University International Hospitality Investment Conference here, Tallis said that during the first quarter and into the second quarter, he has seen a “fairly robust rebound in demand for our franchise product,” adding that the chain has even experienced a slight uptick in RevPAR. “We are hoping this will continue to improve,” he said. Tallis said La Quinta is on target to open 4,000 rooms this year within 50 properties. He also said, La Quinta is looking to sign between 80 to 100 new contracts this year.
