ATLANTA— Construction is now under way on the new La Quinta Inn & Suites at Hartsfield International Airport here. Franchisees R.C. and Mike Patel, with Atlanta-based Diplomat Hotels Corp., are partnering with La Quinta on the new 125-room prototype. (Diplomat was La Quinta’s first franchisee after the Dallas-based hotel company launched its franchising program in the fall of 2000.) The new six-story hotel, which is scheduled to open in the spring of 2003, will feature three different room choices: standard rooms with two full-size beds; king rooms for longer stays; and two-room suites for families or business travelers desiring extra space. King rooms and two-room suites will also include a refrigerator and microwave oven. In addition to more than 1,200 square feet of meeting space, a business center, on-site guest-laundry facilities, outdoor heated swimming pool with spa, and exercise room, the property is also slated to feature a Kinko’s Copy Center, a Starbucks coffee outlet, and a family-style branded restaurant.
