DALLAS— La Quinta Inns is considering a 255-room, six-story prototype hotel in Des Plaines, IL, in an area the city has designated a tax increment financing district. According to a report in the Arlington Heights Daily Herald, La Quinta has a contract to purchase the land contingent on the city agreeing to vacate a portion of the site. Members of the citys economic development commission will consider the request at their regular meeting Wednesday, Feb. 20. The commission, a panel of local business representatives, makes recommendations to the city council. La Quinta will need conditional-use zoning permission and most likely a height variation for the development, the report said. This would be the second six-story La Quinta for the chain; most are three stories. Source: Daily Herald
