NEW YORK— General Dynamics C4 Systems Inc.’s Interactive business is now in the hands of New York-based KoolConnect Technologies, which acquired the division. According to KoolConnect, a provider of digital video-on-demand solutions, the Interactive business unit is a top provider of VOD and is an operator of Intrigue Standard and High Definition VOD solutions that have been installed at more than 25 luxury hotels around the world. Through this transaction, KoolConnect is formally acquiring substantially all of General Dynamics Interactive’s assets, including hotel contacts at Mandarin Oriental hotels in New York and Washington, where Interactive has deployed high-definition technology. KoolConnect also now has under its control the intellectual property and patents held on the Intrigue system, additional content and operational agreements with major providers, including Hollywood studios, and most of General Dynamics Interactive’s high-definition engineering and development staff. Furthermore, after a brief transitional period, KoolConnect will move its corporate offices from New York to a new facility in the metropolitan Boston area that will be in close proximity to where General Dynamics Interactive is currently based. Also, as a result of this deal, customized digital entertainment and high-speed Internet access systems will now be available to three-, four- and five-star hotels from one source. According to KoolConnect, that means that operators of multiple properties across multiple segments will be able to use one company for all their in-room entertainment needs. Currently, the Intrigue solution is deployed at such hotels as the InterContinental Barclay New York; the Charles Hotel in Boston; the Hotel Eden Le Meridien in Rome; the Rydges in North Sydney, Australia; and the InterContinental Hotel in Singapore.
