SAN FRANCISCO, CA—Kimpton Boutique Hotels has pegged Michael DeFrino as its new vp of East Coast operations. In his new post, Defrino will oversee the development and operation of five properties in Washington, DC, the Hotel Monaco New Orleans and future East Coast developments in Boston and New York City. DeFrino has been with Kimpton for five years and has 15 years of hotel experience in total to his credit. Most recently he served as the director of East Coast operations for Kimpton’s Midwest Hotels, which included the oversight of the Allegro, Monaco and Hotel Burnham in Chicago as well as the Monaco hotels in Salt Lake City and Denver. Before coming on board Kimpton, DeFrino worked for the ANA Hotel Washington, DC and several Ritz Carlton Hotel Company properties before that.
