Kaba Buys Unican For $672M

ZURICH Kaba Holding AG, a Swiss security-systems maker, has purchased Canada s Unican Security Systems for $1.1 billion Swiss francs or $672 million in cash and assumed debt to gain access to North America. Kaba plans to raise $366 million (US) in a capital increase to pay for Unican, which includes approximately $122 million (US) of debt. (12/26/00)
