Jones Lang LaSalle Markets Sanibel Resort

MIAMI HOTEL BUSINESS. has learned that Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels was selected to market the Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa on behalf of Liberty Mutual Group, a Boston-based insurer. The resort is the only four-star, four-diamond resort in Southwest Florida and consists of a 242-room main building, as well as a newly completed 107-room “Boutique Inn” and 60, two-bedroom condominium units.

“The Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa is truly a unique situation,” stated Alan Tantleff, Jones Lang s evp. “A new owner has numerous options for branding and management, since the property has long been operated as an independent hotel by Liberty Mutual s own in-house management team. Considering today s scarcity of top-tier resort properties, combined with numerous investment alternatives, we expect substantial interest in the property.”

The Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa is being offered free and clear of management agreements. The property is situated on more than 80 acres, which includes an ecological reserve, its own luxury motor yacht as well as dining, spa and meeting facilities. The resort also has a 19-slip marina, a 5,500-seat tennis stadium, and eight clay tennis courts.

According to a source close to the sale, the Wall Street Journal s report that the resort should fetch in the $90-million range is correct. (4/20/01) Kelly Wayne
