SPRINGFIELD, MO— John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc. reported on its first-quarter 2003 results, notably showing a 3% gain in RevPAR from the year-ago period. Basic and diluted earnings per share for the three months ended April 4 were $0.04, compared to $0.05 for the 2002 period Net income was flat at $0.2 million Total revenues for the quarter were $110.1 million, an increase of $2.7 million, or 2.5%, compared to the 2002 quarter. EBITDA for the quarter came in at $30.7 million, down 1.3% compared to the 2002 quarter EBITDA of $31.1 million RevPAR was $63.69 for the quarter, up 3% from last year’s level of $61.86. The company forecasts second-quarter 2003 year-over-year RevPAR comparisons will remain comparable to last year’s levels, and expects revenues and EBITDA to be slightly below the 2002 second quarter.
