COLLEGE PARK, GA—JHM Hotels of Greenville, SC has kicked off construction of a 200-room Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Airport South on Southport Road here near Hartsville Atlanta International Airport. Scheduled to open in January 2004, the upscale mid-priced hotel is slated to feature: 8,000 square feet of meeting space with banquet rooms, smaller meeting rooms, and a board room; a fitness center; an indoor pool and Jacuzzi; high-speed Internet access; and a full-service restaurant, including a separate Flight Lounge designed for air travelers. “This Hilton Garden Inn signals Phase I of a planned multi-unit development for what will become the Millennium Center, a 22-acre hospitality complex near Atlanta’s airport,” said H.P. Rama, chairman and CEO for JHM Hotel Management. “Designed to service the needs of air travelers with different facilities and amenities, the Millennium Center will consist of three additional hotels; a full-service, free-standing restaurant; and an office building.” “This Hilton Garden Inn will be the largest airport location to date,” added Steve Crabill, vp/franchise development – southeast region for Hilton Hotels Corp. “In addition, it will be one of the 10 largest of this brand nationwide.”
