NORWALK, CT— J/Brice Design International has been awarded a $21.6 million contract to refurbish the interiors of five Marriott hotels. The hotels were recently acquired for $70 million in a joint venture by HEI Hospitality, Greenfield Partners LLC and GIC Real Estate from Host Marriott. All guestrooms, suites and corridors will be renovated along with public spaces including function and social venues. The contract award was announced by HEI Hospitality, a privately held hotel ownership and management group, headquartered in Norwalk, CT. This is the second major contract awarded by HEI to J/Brice Design. The hospitality design firm is currently managing the renovation of three other HEI properties located in Connecticut, Massachusetts and northern California. The five properties will continue to be operated as Marriotts. Merritt Hospitality, formerly Smillezzz, a wholly owned subsidiary of HEI, will manage the properties. The hotels include the 401-room Atlanta Marriott Northwest; the 226-room Detroit Marriott Southfield; the 251-room Detroit Airport Marriott, Romulus, MI; the 222-room Atlanta Marriott Norcross, Norcross, GA; and the 224-room Fullerton Marriott, Fullerton, CA
