MORRIS, IL—Janko Hospitality, operators of the Holiday Inn here, are creating two hotels where one exists now. Part of the Holiday Inn at the Illinois 47 interchange with Interstate 80 will be torn down to make room for a new Holiday Inn Express and Suites. The remainder of the existing Holiday Inn will stay intact—and remain open for business during construction—until it eventually is converted into a new brand; it will remain a full-service hotel with restaurant. Renovations are slated to be completed in early 2008, when the site will have 31 more hotel rooms, including suites and extra space for meetings. “Weve been trying to upgrade our facility in Morris for some years,” Ed Croom, president/Janko Hospitality, which operates the Holiday Inn, told local media. “We finally came to the determination that the only way we can find land is to use the land that we have already.” According to reports, Croom noted that the price of land has been going up along Interstate 80 along with demand for hotel rooms. The Morris Holiday Inn is owned by Morris Hotel Group, LLC, which also will own both properties.
