MIAMI BEACH, FL— Island Outpost, a group of properties in Miami Beach, the Bahamas and Jamaica, said it will merge with Acacia Hotels and Resorts, a development, management and marketing company. Acacia founder and CEO William Anderson will serve as the new companys CEO, according to the deal. Acacias current CFO, Bruce Campbell, will continue as the new companys CFO. Jona Liebrecht, Island Outposts current president, will shift focus as head of operations. Island Outpost, which was founded by entrepreneur Chris Blackwell, said that with this deal it will be able to expand its portfolio while enhancing guest services. Launched in 1999, Acacia is a development, management, and marketing company which uses the concept of “intelligent luxury” as its founding principle. Acacia is currently engaged in resort, spa and residential projects in the Caribbean and the Americas, including Hacienda Cabo Velas in Costa Rica. The new company will continue Acacias development plans under the Island Outpost brand, as well as focus on expanding Island Outposts core portfolio. Island Outpost properties include: Goldeneye, The Caves, Strawberry Hill and Jakes in Jamaica; Pink Sands, Compass Point and Kamalame Cay in the Bahamas; The Tides, Marlin and Kent in South Beach; and Cuckoos Nest in Utah.
