Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Aimbridge Hospitality’s international division, has revealed its planned schedule of hotel openings for 2021.
The third-party management company reports that it is “optimistic” about the year ahead, with six Interstate-operated properties set to open across the U.K. and Europe over the next 12 months, including Aloft Birmingham, Bodmin Jail and Hampton by Hilton Canterbury in the U.K.
Its planned European openings are Holiday Inn Express Almere in The Netherlands, Holiday Inn Express Brussels and Sapphire House, an Autograph Collection hotel, in Antwerp, Belgium.
The announcement of Interstate’s planned openings for the year follows the company’s portfolio growth at the end of 2020, taking on the management of the 31 Jupiter Hotels properties.
“There is no doubt that the last year has been the most challenging to hit our industry in living memory,” said Nicholas Northam, EVP-international. “Across our portfolio, like all other hotel operators worldwide, we have had to adapt to the turbulent market conditions and the significant drop in demand. However, with 2021 underway, we are optimistic about the year ahead and confident that thanks to the roll-out of vaccinations across the globe, the hospitality industry will be able to get to its feet again and that we’ll see a resurgence in both business and leisure travel.”
To date, Interstate’s pan-European portfolio stands at 144 properties, inclusive of committed pipeline, across the U.K., Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia/CIS.
