Increased Holiday Travel Expected By AAA

ORLANDO This holiday season, 60.6 million Americans are expected to travel 100 miles or more from home, a 4% increase over last years 58.3 million people, according to AAA. AAAs survey also stated that 37% of travelers plan to visit a city while another 33% expect to go to a town or rural area. Other popular destinations include: mountains (12%), ocean/beach (11%), lake (2%), and state/national park (1%). While 58% of travelers plan to stay with a friend or relative, another 26% will be staying at a hotel or motel. Other lodging plans include: cabin/condo, (6%), camper/trailer/RV/tent (2%), boat/ship (1%), and bed and breakfast (1%). (12/14/00)
