Illinois Hoteliers Change Name A La AH&LA

CHICAGO The Hotel-Motel Association of Illinois followed the lead of the newly renamed American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), officially changing its name to the Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association (IHLA).

The 91-year-old statewide group, representing more than 70,000 rooms, made the switch during a breakfast meeting at the Chicago Hilton & Towers, where AH&LA s annual conference was recently held.

Marc Gordon, IHLA president, also debuted a new organization logo, an outline of the state superimposed over an AH&LA-style, room-and-roof icon.

He noted the reason for the name change was similar to AH&LA s decision, terming it “a better reflection of the diverse membership of our changing industry.”
