NEW YORK— The 2002 International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show is expected to draw 45,000 lodging and culinary professionals to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center here. Some 2,000 companies will exhibit at the 87th annual edition of the show to be held Nov. 9 to 12. More than 40 educational sessions are scheduled with topics ranging from global trends in hospitality to design and technology. In addition, Philip Kendall, vp/food & beverage, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and Danny Meyer, president, Union Square Hospitality will present separate keynote addresses. Exhibiting companies will be presented in five new, broadly defined markets. This is intended to provide attendees with a comprehensive format for finding products and suppliers. The five markets are: • Décor— This will consist of a range of furniture; floor and wall coverings; lighting; artwork; bathroom equipment and fixtures; wall décor; bedding; fabrics and draperies; decorative accessories; fitness, spa and sauna equipment; signage; general furnishings; and design and design services. • Essentials— This section will offer cleaning and maintenance products; guest amenities and services; and finance and management services. • Flavor— This category is devoted to food and beverages. • Restaurant— This category will feature products for both the front- and back-of-the-house. • Technology— This section will offer software; telecommunications; audio-visual; hardware; energy management; CRM, POS and PMS systems; televisions, video and entertainment; security and safety systems; minibars; and HVAC equipment.
