NEW YORK— George Little Management , which handles the International Hotel/Motel & Restuarant Show, said attendance figures for the 87th annual edition which closed here Tues., Nov. 12, showed an increase of 17.7%, with 43,393 attendees and 1,600 exhibitors participating. A spokesperson said GLM had expected this year’s event to show a rebound from last year’s, when attendance dropped sharply by 25%, following the events of 9/11. Attendance also dropped from the result of jitters caused by the crash of an American Airlines jet over nearby Queens on the third day of the show. The spokesperson said there had been no expectation this year’s IH/M&RS stats would hit 2000’s, which was a “watershed” year, although anticipation had been the 2002 show would break even.
