SPOKANE, WA The first stage of an expansion proposed for the Schweitzer Mountain Resort will begin in April. Groundbreaking for the $8 million White Pine Lodge, with 48 condominiums, will kick off a decade-long expansion intended to convert the ski area near Sandpoint, ID into a year-round destination resort. Schweitzer had its best year last year with 247,000 skier visits and is on pace to break that mark this year. (1/11/01) SOURCE:The Oregonian
