PAIPU, KAUAI, HI— The Hyatt Regency Kauai has completed renovations to the fitness room at its ANARA (A New Age Restorative Approach) spa, which included upgrades to its wall paper and carpeting, as well as new equipment to better utilize space. The new cardio equipment, provided by StairMaster, and weight machines, developed by Flex, improve the efficiency of the fitness room’s layout, which is part of the hotel’s 25,000 square foot spa. There are also plans for additional spa upgrades in the coming year, said Robin Jumper, director/ANARA Spa at the Hyatt. “Capital expenditure dollars have been allotted do some softer renovations, particularly to our retail and salon areas, as well as our front entrance,” said Jumper. The spa’s front desk will be expanded this year to provide up to five receptionists, instead of its current three desk employees, “to better serve our clients,” she stated. The Hyatt Regency’s hotel lobby will also be getting a spa receptionist within the next month, who will work from kiosk featuring the spa’s line of Coco Mango products and who will work as a spa concierge. “It’s located in the hotel’s lobby for all the guests that may not walk past the spa,” said Jumper, hoping that the high-profile employee will further boost the spa’s business which has increased significantly in recent months. “In the two weeks after September 11, we had a lot of people from New York coming to the spa wanting to get away,” she said. “I know body treatment and massage business has gone up recently.” — Diana M.
