SEATTLE—Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has opened its Hyatt at Olive 8 hotel here. The 346-room property is on track to be Seattle’s first Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design-certified hotel. The hotel is located on the first 17 floors of Seattle’s Olive 8 building, which is located at the corner of Olive and Eighth. The building also contains 230 condominiums on the upper 22 floors. Hyatt at Olive 8 feature 11,000 square feet of green meeting space, the Elaia spa, a restaurant, a Stay Fit@Hyatt Fitness Center, a lap pool and a Jacuzzi. The hotel’s green features include its capability to use 32% less water and 20% less power than other similar size buildings. It also creates less storm runoff than other similar size buildings. During the construction of the hotel 95% of the debris was redirected into recyclable material that was used back again in the building process. Furthermore, all guestrooms are equipped with Watt Stopper master power controls that help conserve electricity; Toto dual-flush toilets; and Bricor water-reducing showerhead. The hotel’s green housekeeping programs also utilize materials and chemicals that are environmentally friendly.
