Hungary 1Q Tourism Up 4.2%

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY Hungarian hotels registered a total of 2.194 million tourist nights in the first three months of 2001, up 4.2% from the same period last year, the Central Statistics Office reported to Reuters. The country had 816,000 guests in the first quarter of the year, up 3.6% year on year, the Statistics Office noted. The number of foreign guests registered at hotels rose 6.4% to 371,000. (5/9/01)
