PHOENIX, AZ— The Howard Johnson Inn in central Phoenix has completed an extensive renovation encompassing guestrooms, public areas, building grounds, and facilities. Operated by Northwest Lodging International, a subsidiary of AFM Hospitality Corp., the property plans to utilize its new “look” to redirect its business plan, according to Stephen Phillips, vice chairman/CEO of AFM Hospitality. Renovations within its 132 guestrooms include all new furniture, mattresses and box springs, bedspreads, shams and draperies featuring a “dessert sand and sunset” motif, new fixtures and upgraded electrical and mechanical functions. The hotel also has installed Howard Johnson Home Office rooms for business travelers. The hotel’s swimming pool and whirlpool spa have been resurfaced, and pool furniture has been upgraded. The parking lot has been recovered with fresh black topcoat, and the grounds have been manicured. In addition to the hotel’s renovation efforts, managers plans to conduct a complete audit of its internal and external systems to make sure the hotel targets the right customers and presents the proper image for the newly renovated property. The hotel also plans to add wireless high-speed Internet access in all guestrooms and throughout the entire property, and install computers and monitors in at least 25% of its guestrooms.
