PORTLAND, OR— Hotel Lucia, Portlands newest independently owned boutique hotel, is being honored for outstanding hotel design. The property is a finalist for the Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design. Known for its extensive art collection by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer David Hume Kennerly and its creative green apple theme, the Hotel Lucias lobby design has earned the hotel a finalist spot among such major international names as the Hotel Monaco in New Orleans and Walt Disney Imagineering for Disneys Grand Californian Hotel in the lobby/reception category. The Hotel Lucia is the only Portland hotel to be named a Gold Key Award finalist. Grand prize winners and the “Best of Show” winner will be announced during a formal ceremony in New York in November during the IH/M&RS Nov. 9 to 12, 2002.
