ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA—IHG debuted its boutique hotel brand in Russia with the recent opening of Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg-Tchaikovskogo.
Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg-Tchaikovskogo is located in the city’s historic center between the Neva and Fontanka rivers and near the Summer Garden and Tavricheskiy Garden.
The hotel operates under a franchise agreement with Vega LLC.
As IHG’s boutique brand, every Hotel Indigo property is designed to reflect the local neighborhood, from the building’s design to the hotel’s artwork and locally inspired menus, according to IHG.
Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg-Tchaikovskogo’s 119 bedrooms feature floor-to-ceiling murals inspired by the neighboring Summer Garden, the Foundry metal works and river embankments. The street, Tchaikovskogo, was renamed in 1923 after the famous ballet and opera author, Tchaikovsky, who was a student nearby and his influence is evident in the hotel through the décor of the hotel suites and corridors.
The suites provide panoramic views of the city and the river Neva. To reinforce the local neighborhood feel, the interior décor of the hotel’s wellness studio and pool is derived from the mansions that line the Tchaikovskogo street and the Summer Garden.
Tom Rowntree, IHG’s VP/brand management upscale and luxury brands, Europe, stated, “Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg-Tchaikovskogo will be the first Hotel Indigo to open in Russia. Located in the center of Russia’s capital of culture, the property truly encapsulates the style and charm of this historical city for guests to enjoy, and we look forward to welcoming guests to this new hotel.”
