SAN RAFAEL, CA— Homewood Suites garnered the top spot in the hotel segment of the Market Metrix Hospitality Index for the first quarter of this year, marking the first time an extended-stay chain has assumed first place. For the third consecutive quarter, Disney World Resorts topped the customer satisfaction ranking for the upscale hotel category and Bellagio won in the upscale casino category. Walt Disney World Resorts also scored highest in customer loyalty. Other segment leaders for the quarter included Four Seasons for Luxury Hotels; Springhill Suites for upper mid-price hotels; Country Inns & Suites by Carlson for mid-price hotels; and Sleep Inn for Economy hotels. The index also showed that customer satisfaction levels have nearly recovered from the events of Sept. 11. The pre-Sept.11 customer satisfaction score of 84 in Q3 2001, which slumped to 81 in Q1 2002, has slowly risen to 83 in Q1 2003.
