KAWARTHA LAKES, ONTARIO—Following the completion of an extensive renovation project this winter, Viamede Resort, a historic property on Stoney Lake in the Kawarthas, is reopening this week.
The renovation program at Viamede Resort included substantial improvements to the resort’s suites and guestrooms, cottages and public areas, both inside and out. All guestrooms and cottages have been refreshed with new flooring, renovated bathrooms and new handcrafted furnishings. In the public rooms of the resort, new carpet has been installed, and the dining room has also received a refresh. To give Stoney Lake resort a more uniform look, many of the buildings throughout the resort were given new steel roofs. Other improvements include the addition of new marina docks and new electronic door locks.
In addition, Executive Chef Kevin McKenna has joined the culinary team to oversee the resort’s three restaurants. A graduate of the Niagara on the Lake Culinary School, McKenna has over 15 years of experience working in the kitchens of restaurants and four-star resorts.
