SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA The new owners of the worlds first motel, the Motel Inn in San Luis Obispo, Calif., are planning to raze part of the historic but dilapidated compound to make way for an extension of the adjacent Apple Farm.
The owners, John King and Rob Rossi, recently gave members of the citys Cultural Heritage Committee a tour and an overview of their plans, which comes just 10 days after they took ownership of the Apple Farm and Motel Inn properties in a $29 million deal.
Their eventual plans include putting apple farms on either side of the motel and transferring some of the motel-rooms to the Farm. (8/23/00)
