NEW YORK— Global Hyatt Corp., Hilton Hotels Corp., and Marriott International are the three finalists to operate a 1,400-room hotel to be constructed across from New Yorks Javits Convention Center. According to local press reports, Hyatt is working with locally-based developer Extell on the full-block project, while Hilton is proceeding with Austin-based Faulkner and Marriott with the New York-based Moinian Group. The most detail was available on the Marriott/Moinian proposal. The 70-story hotel would include the largest ballroom in New York, a space that can accommodate 5,000 for dinner. Long delayed plans for the hotel are being fast-tracked as part of a larger renovation and expansion of the Javits facility.
