SOUTH BEACH, FL— With the presentation of a check in the amount of $25,000 to the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators and Developers (NABHOOD) at the 8th Annual International Multicultural Tourism and Hotel Ownership Summit held here, Hilton Hotels Corp. has officially been recognized as an initial “founding sponsor” of the organization. As a result of this largesse, it was noted the Beverly Hills, CA-based hotel organization is now eligible to have a company representative sit on NABHOOD’s board of directors. Hilton will also now be identified as a “founding sponsor” on all of the organization’s printed materials, and will have its company name and logo appear on the organization’s website with links to the Hilton website. Additionally, as a “founding sponsor,” Hilton reportedly will be granted the opportunity to play a key role in assisting NABHOOD’s efforts to educate and recruit new African-American hotel investors and owners. “For several years now, Hilton has been actively engaged in successful outreach efforts to educate African-American, Hispanic and female entrepreneurs on hotel-ownership opportunities offered by the Hilton Family of Hotels,” said Floyd Pitts, senior director of diversity programs for Hilton Hotels Corp. “We are pleased to have supported NABHOOD over the past years, and throughout our outreach efforts we’ve benefited from the support and guidance provided to us by the leadership of NABHOOD.”
