HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC— The 10-story Hilton Head Marriott Beach & Golf Resort has opened, after completing a $20 million-plus, yearlong conversion from its former status as a Hyatt Regency hotel. The full-service oceanfront property, owned by GE Pension Fund Trust, offers three miles of sandy beaches; 25 tennis courts; access to 16 golf courses, including three on property; water sports; indoor and outdoor pools; a fitness center and business center. All 512 guestrooms, including 31 suites, have been renovated for business travelers, with two-line telephones and Internet access, increased workspace and an ergonomic chair. Other room features include new Marriott Beds, case goods and bedspreads; individual climate control; in-room coffee; hair dryers; irons; bathrobes; and a special amenities package.
