NEW ORLEANS HOTELBUSINESS. has learned that Hilton Hotels Corp. is anticipating saving approximately 1-2% in 2001 from its recently implemented e-procurement system.
“If we garner 1-2%, that s a lot,” said Anthony Nieves, svp/purchasing at Hilton. Currently 30% of the company s total purchases are made electronically, and Hilton hopes that number will increase to 70-80% next year.
The e-procurement system has already been installed in 500 of the company s North American hotels, which includes all of its owned and most of its managed properties. This quarter, Hilton is beginning to roll out the e-procurement system in the majority of its franchised hotels.
Hilton s e-procurement platform was formed through an alliance with Purchase Pro, and was first beta tested in its Chicago properties in May 2000. (1/17/01) Diana M. Rodriguez
