PHILIDELPHIA—HHM named Scott Hammons as VP/Capital Projects.
With renovations at nearly 20 HHM properties scheduled to be completed in 2014, Hammons’ experience will lend itself to diverse projects that include hotels in the Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt and IHG brand families, according to the company, as well as HHM’s Independent Collection hotels, such as the two recent Autograph Collection additions in Miami: Winter Haven and Blue Moon.
“Scott joining our team is a big win for HHM. His diverse résumé includes iconic hotels and several large projects that assure us he is up for just about anything,” stated HHM President/CEO Naveen P. Kakarla. “The clarity he brings to scope, schedule, budget as well as the important operational requirements from inception to completion of each project sets the example for his entire project management team.”
Hammons reports directly to Kakarla, providing support and leadership to HHM’s regional engineering teams in addition to overseeing all renovations and capital projects. He is leading the project management team with a new mission to provide hospitality project management services to clients, Starwood Capital Group and Hersha Hospitality Trust among them, through detailed planning and expert implementation.
Previously, Hammons led the capital projects program for Hilton Worldwide in New York City. His responsibilities included the design and construction oversight for the master-plan renovation of the Waldorf-Astoria, New York as well as the New York Hilton Midtown.
Prior to his tenure at Hilton, Scott helped lead the $150M-plus redevelopment of the Washington Hilton for Lowe Enterprises and worked for Ian Schrager to help relaunch the Gramercy Park Hotel. Hammons has overlapping operations and project experience with the repositioning of the Park Hyatt Washington and the opening of six Kimpton Hotels during his time in Washington DC.
With a hospitality background of 20 years, he has also previously held positions such as Assistant General Manager, Director of Housekeeping and Director of Facilities.
