NEW YORK— Springer-Miller Systems is debuting its new Diplomat connectivity solution here at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show. Based on SOAP/XML messaging that sends information across any combination of database and networking architectures, Diplomat is designed to operate in the background of a property’s system, and offers durable connectivity among Springer-Miller’s proprietary Host applications, as well as third-party applications. In addition, the usage of XML message-based technology allows instant data-sharing regardless of hardware, application, database or networking platform. The Diplomat server has been designed for speed and data security, encrypting, encoding, tracking, authenticating and logging all data it sends. “It manages interface communications via one single engine, and not just between Springer-Miller Systems and other companies, but between our own products,” SMS’ Stephanie Reisberg told HOTEL BUSINESS®. “There’s a concept in the industry right now that was initiated by HTNG (Hotel Technology Next Generation, a initiative by the leading solutions players). The purpose of everyone working together in this initiative is to really enhance the amount of data flow that goes through interfaces. Generally, most of us have kind of kept an arm’s length distance for a very long time just doing the minimal amount that needed to get data from one system to another. Now we’re starting to open up that communication flow to start exchanging guest information, profile information, preference information so that hotels can do their jobs better and the systems themselves are not inhibiting them from providing great customer service.”
