SAN DIEGO—-Accor Hospitality has announced a milestone for its Motel 6/Studio 6 brands as well as new growth initiatives. The budget brands collectively reached 1,000 hotels and Accor unveiled a redesigned logo for Motel 6 to complement its new prototype interior. The company held a press conference here at the ALIS conference to reveal yesterdays opening of the Biloxi, MI, property, which represents the milestone property and is the first corporately-owned and built hotel to feature the new “Phoenix” room design. The prototype design was unveiled last March and is positioned as the chains room of the future with a modern, European boutique-style look, according to the company. The new logo, which now has the word motel less prominently featured and written sideways adjacent to a redesigned 6, will be featured on signage at all properties that incorporate the new Phoenix design. Olivier Poirot, CEO of Accor North America, Motel 6 and Studio 6, explained the impetus for the new logo and its relationship to the new interior design. “We did something fresh and we wanted to get that out to the consumer,” he said.
