CHICAGO—Homewood Suites by Hilton is holding its first summit for its housekeepers and engineers here and in three other cities this spring.
The two-day educational sessions are intended to raise the visibility of these functions at the hotels and underscore these associates value as potential leaders. Housekeepers at extended-stay chains like Homewood Suites, in particular, are valuable because of the regular contact they have with guests, building loyalty and repeat visits. Extended-stay suites also tend to have full-service kitchens, which makes cleaning these units more time-consuming.
In addition to Chicago, Homewood Suites is holding summits in Atlanta, Phoenix, and Dallas. An estimated 375 housekeepers and engineers are expected to participate overall.
The four programs are being supported, in part, by Homewood Suites vendors, including Grainger, Procter & Gamble and Ecolab.—Bruce Serlen
