MELVILLE, NY—Dow Hotel Co. (DHC) last night unveiled the renovation of the Hilton Long Island/Huntington here during grand reopening ceremonies.
The 303-room hotel, owned in a joint venture between DHC and Prudential, underwent a $16 million makeover.
“I was asked to say a few words, and when I walked into the lobby, I could think of one: Wow,” said Gary Steffen, VP/Global Brand Performance, Hilton Worldwide, told the crowd gathered to see the new look.
The renovation includes a new lobby, complete with DHC’s Mediterranean, small-plates restaurant concept known as Basil’s Bistro, as well as a lobby bar. It also features upgraded guestrooms, corridors and public spaces and a new steakhouse scheduled to open in second quarter.
The executive lounge, an added amenity for concierge-level guests, was enhanced to incorporate a private business center, specialty coffee offerings and a refreshed look. In addition, the hotel now has a new front desk and business center, upgraded high-speed Internet service and a revamped fitness center.
The grand reopening festivities, hosted by Steffen and DHC VP/Operations Dave Fincannon, included a presentation by the Civil Air Patrol Color Guard, a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local officials and a presentation to Newsday Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund, to help at risk children and families on Long Island. In addition to the monetary donation, the hotel plans to donate 100 room nights to be used by local organizations providing Hurricane Sandy relief.
