KAUAI, HI— The Princeville Resort here is about to be rebranded as Hawaiis first and only St. Regis hotel and will undergo a $60-million renovation in order to be substantially upgraded, according to published reports. The 20-year-old property is perched on the cliffs above Hanalei Bay. The 252-room hotel on Kauais North Shore, which is managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.s Luxury Collection, is to undergo a top-to-bottom renovation and upgrade that will add a spa and possibly a celebrity chef restaurant as part of its transformation into a five-star property. It also will be the only St. Regis in the islands since the Wailea Renaissance on Maui, which was to be rebranded as a St. Regis after an extensive rebuild, is expected to reopen under a different hotel flag now.
