ST. VINCENT & THE GRENADINES, WEST INDIES–Harlequin Hotels & Resorts has opened its first property here, the Buccament Bay Resort.
The full-service luxury resort features seven restaurants and lounges, an ESPA Spa, tennis academy, performing arts academy, and soccer school.
Situated on 76 acres on the southwest coast of the island, the resort is a 25-minute drive from St. Vincents existing airport and 40 minutes from a new airport that is currently under construction and scheduled for completion in 2013. To improve airlift onto the island, Harlequin has begun Harlequin Air, which will fly nine-seat Piper Aircraft direct from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Based in Grand Cayman, Harlequin Hotels & Resorts plans additional development on the Caribbean islands of Barbados and St. Lucia as well as in the Dominican Republic. On the drawing board is a second brand, H Hotels & Resorts, that will focus on boutique hotel development, also in the Caribbean.
