MEMPHIS— Hampton opened six hotels during July 2002, representing 415 rooms. The new openings, including two in Virginia, comprise three Hampton Inn hotels and three Hampton Inn & Suites hotels and bring the total number of Hampton hotels to 1,181, representing 121,004 rooms. Phil Cordell, svp/brand management for Hampton, said, “Our Hampton Inn & Suites product, which currently accounts for half our development pipeline, continues to gain momentum, as does our development west of the Mississippi, where we opened two hotels in July.” Among the new Hampton locations opened in July are: Front Royal, VA with 70 rooms; Gillette, WY featuring 57 rooms; Hammond, LA with 81 rooms; Sacremento, CA offering 67 rooms and suites; Chincoteague-Waterfront, VA with 59 rooms and suites; and Stillwater, OK featuring 81 guestrooms and suites.
