OKLAHOMA CITY The Hampton Inn Oklahoma City-I-40 East hotel here has reopened after undergoing 21 months of reconstruction. The 101-room hotel was destroyed May 3, 1999 after a tornado swept through several Oklahoma cities.
The original Hampton Inn Oklahoma City-I-40 East hotel made national news in 1999 for its efforts to protect the lives of hotel guests from the devastating storm, said John Sweeney, Hampton Inn general manager. A grand opening celebration will be held in May to commemorate the hotels reopening. The new hotel features added amenities including an indoor pool, a business center, and meeting facilities.
