ROSE HALL, JAMAICA—Half Moon, A RockResort located here, is adding a new component to its community outreach initiatives with its Guest Dollar Donation Program.
Partnering with the Montego Bay Marine Park Trust, Half Moon is inviting guests visiting the resort to donate $1 per room, per night to implement a mooring buoy system deployment which will protect natural and artificial reefs from damage caused by boat anchors. The Trust also will use the funds to facilitate a training program.
“Like Half Moon, Montego Bay Marine Park Trust is continuously vigilant in its efforts to maintain the integrity of the eco-system which is vital to Jamaica’s tourism,” said Aram Zerunian, the resort’s general manager. “We hope through this initiative the Trust will have the resources they need to achieve their mission.”
Operating for over 20 years, the Montego Bay Marine Park Trust is responsible for implementing measures to protect and restore a healthy eco-system in the resort town of Montego Bay.
The first hotel to be inducted in the Caribbean Hotel Association’s Green Hotel Hall of Fame and a Green Globe certified resort, Half Moon, A RockResort is a 400-acre luxury resort located on Jamaica’s North Coast. The 57-year-old resort features two miles of private, white-sand beach with 197 rooms and suites.
