LONDON According to the London Times, Guy Hands is leaving Nomura International. Hands, according to the report, is in talks to set up his own operation, and is taking his 60-strong team with him. A spokesman said that the discussions were “amicable,” while confirming that Hands is owed tens of millions in outstanding bonuses. Nomura is reportedly interested in taking a stake in Hands new fund.

As previously reported by HOTEL BUSINESS., Nomura has recently been named the preferred bidder for the Le Meridien hotel chain being sold by Compass Group. Hands privately owns Hand Picked Hotels an 18-hotel portfolio which he runs with his wife. (5/8/01)
