NEW YORK— The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation plans to open two museums in Las Vegas at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino on September 16, 2001. The Hermitage Guggenheim Museum, a 7,660-square-foot museum, will feature collections from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York and The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. The Guggenheim Las Vegas, a 63,700-square-foot facility, will present special large-scale exhibitions. The two new buildings have been designed by Rem Koolhaas, a Dutch architect and winner of the 2000 Pritzker Prize. The Guggenheim Hermitage Museum is located at the front of The Venetian, adjacent to the main entrance lobby.
