ATLANTA— GuestHouse International Franchise Systems told HOTEL BUSINESS® that Kevin Lewis has been appointed as the brands new president. Lewis replaces Rob Wilson, who has decided to return with his family to Arizona, their long-time home, to pursue other interests. According to David Krischer, chairman/CEO, Suburban Lodges of America, the parent company, Lewis was the “logical” choice to replace Wilson, as he has been with the Guesthouse brand since its inception. “Kevin has been instrumental in the growth of GuestHouse International since it was formed more than five years ago,” said Greg Plank, president of Suburban Lodges of America. “He has known every GuestHouse International franchisee and is well respected for his fairness and his positive attitude.” Lewis previously served as managing director of franchise sales for Suburban Lodges of America, and helped establish the fair franchising principles upon which the GuestHouse International brand was founded, said the company. Lewis joined GuestHouse International in 1994 as vp/franchise development. In 1999, after GuestHouse International was acquired by Suburban Lodges, he became managing director of franchise sales for the Suburban Lodge and GuestHouse International brands. “Were excited about the change and wish Rob well,” said Krischer of Wilsons departure. Suburban Lodges of America owns, franchises and manages Suburban Lodge hotels, and franchises and manages GuestHouse International hotels, a mid-market hotel chain. GuestHouse International now has over 130 locations open or under development in more than 30 states. —Shannon McMullen
