ATLANTA— GuestHouse International, based here, announced the winners of its Awards of Excellence, based on “exceptional performance,” at its regional conferences in Los Angeles and Atlanta, respectively. The President’s Award was presented to Santa Clara, CA’s Doug Hong and Camden, TN’s Ben Thompson. Winners were chosen based on occupancy and ADR increases, high QA scores and the owners’ initiatives. On the West Coast, Michael Wang, VenQuest Hotel Group, accepted the Marketing Excellence Award for the Long Beach, CA property. The East Coast award went to Ken Mason of Mason Hospitality for properties in Orlando, Huntsville, Greenville and Tulsa. Sharad Patel received the Franchise Services Award for the South Gate, CA property while Henri Rouchard, Teranga Management, received the award for the Fort Myers, FL property. The properties received the awards due to “top-shelf quality” in operations, guest services and sales during annual franchise services manager visits. The West Coast Quality Services award winner was George Swift, Orchard Hospitality, for the property in Kelso, WA. Fred Monahan took the award at the East Coast Conference for the South Haven, MI property. The two properties were recognized for consistently high scores on Quality Assurance exams. The hotels also offered a high quality of service and implemented exemplary employee morale and training programs.
