HAINES CITY, FL— According to a report in the Tampa Tribune, owners of the 1,000-acre Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resort filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy Monday, Feb. 18 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Tampa, FL. Later that day, the resort started shutting down operations, including three golf courses, about 20 tennis courts, hundreds of rental condominiums and a marina, the paper said. No refunds were being given, but employees were trying to find accommodations for guests. Over the last 30 years of operation, the Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resort has hosted some of the biggest names in golf and tennis. The resorts condominiums have 1,000 guestrooms, of which about 557 are owned by the resort. Electricity is expected to be cut off to portions of the complex operated by the resort Friday, Feb. 22, according to the newspaper. Renters can file claims with the Bankruptcy Court for reimbursements.
