PARSIPPANY, NJ— Cendant Corp.’s Hotel Group has repositioned some of its top executives, notably naming Senior VP/Administration & Operations Ken Greene to succeed Mary Mahoney as president of Howard Johnson International. Mahoney has accepted a position with Fairfield Resorts, a Cendant company specializing in vacation ownership and leisure products. In his previous post for just over a year, Greene reportedly played a pivotal role in the implementation of the Hotel Group’s Project Restore initiative to upgrade the quality of its nine hotel brands by eliminating poorly performing properties and those with persistent quality problems. Under his direction, it was noted more than 600 hotels were targeted for action, of which 150 have been terminated. Earlier in his Cendant career, Greene served as the Hotel Group’s CFO, VP/CFO – New York Metro Region for NRT, international services director for Coldwell Banker, corporate director of finance, director of strategic planning for Coldwell Banker Residential Affiliates, and director of corporate franchise development. Mahoney, who has served as president of Howard Johnson since August 1998, will become Fairfield’s senior vp/member relations & customer support, effective next month. She will reportedly be based in her hometown of Orlando, FL. “While we are sorry to lose Mary, we are pleased that she is staying within the Cendant family,” Hotel Group Chairman/CEO Steve Rudnitsky said. “Among her many accomplishments, she initiated a successful re-imaging program that helped restore the Howard Johnson brand’s traditional competitive edge among mid-market hotel brands.”
